Large scale, intricate abstract paintings explore memory of feeling within the natural environment, encouraging immersion, escapism and an internal reconnection with singular moments of presence. The place where this stored perception from memory crosses with a more fantastical imagining of an undefined place, perhaps before or after life. Despite the structure, perspective and gravity of landscape being subtle or absent there is a deliberate trace of marks and gestures that evoke it. Opp art influence fuels the mark making, decreasing and increasing density, repetition, colour placement, from large palette knifes to single hair brushes, encouraging the experience of shifting scale.
